lets hope we're done talking about girl talk-esque music for a little while

or at least until august when e-603's new joint drops.

let's talk about other music though. we'll kick it off today with "Arms Way" by Islands.

seriously islands, what the FUCK happened? you used to be awesome & amazing & now you're garbage. i dont even think i listened to this whole cd before i deleted it from my computer. the first half was all right, but the end just started sucking way too much for me to even care about the record. i dont even know how to describe it, i mean, i guess it sounds like an islands record without any of the good influences of the first islands record.

theres a bunch of dramarama surrounding this band & the members. first the unicorns break up & jaime & mark go off to form islands, shortly after islands first cd is released mark leave islands & they get a new drummer & practically fall off the face of the earth [seriously, this record leaked in like april or something & i just found out about it a couple weeks back].

so yeah, if you like absolute garbage run out & get Arms Way by Islands because it's probably the shittiest ever thing that's flown through my ears recently, with the exception of Night by the Gerogerigegege, but that only wins by default because it's a legitimate recording of a man taking a dump... & IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN ISLANDS NEW CD.

next up we've got Diplo & Santogold with "Top Ranking: A Diplo Dub".
basically, this mix is kind of like what Diplo did for MIA way back when [Piracy Funds Terrorism, for those of you not in the know]. Diplo has to be one of the more eclectic DJs of our time [people like girl talk & e-603 are out for obvious reasons], this mix is no different, diplo manages to jam pack a whole bunch of santogold, some cutty ranks, DEVO, aretha franklin, desmond dekker & THE FUCKING B-52S into an hour & fifteen minutes, all the while keeping it hippin' & a hoppin' all the way through.

i dont typically listen to DJ's or mixtapes or anything, but diplo is a legit exception, his hollertronix style of mixing & his eclectic choices constantly have your head turning in awe, this mix is no different & in fact, is much better than some of his other recent mixes. still, it's no Florida

finally, we'll end with what nick diamonds from the unicorns is doing lately; Human Highway presents "Moody Motorcycle". this record is kind of like what would happen if the unicorns tried to do a folk kind of record. i'm still not all the way through it, as i did just happen to find a new diplo mix maybe an hour after grabbing the human highway cd, so i cant be a total critic on it, but i'll say this about that: the human highway cd is ten and a half times better than arms way by islands by the FOURTH TRACK. so SUCK ON THAT JAIME.

i think i'll have to give it another good listen later on to give a better review, but yes, seek this record out as it is very nice to listen to. then again, every record i wrote about today is nice to listen to EXCEPT arms way by islands.

OKAY THATS IT GET THE FUCK OUT.
